WOG and Masha Foundation’s “Road of Kindness” project has raised UAH 4.15 million to save war-affected children
More than UAH 4 million for the purchase of critically needed medical equipment in a hospital that rescues children affected by war. This amount was accumulated thanks to the customers of the WOG gas station network in two months of “Road of Kindness” project. The company implements this initiative together with Masha Foundation NGO.
These purple mugs are all-too-familiar to Ukrainians. They appear at WOG every year during the “Road of Kindness” project. Tasting their favourite hot drink out of this mug, the gas station network customers contribute to the common goal of saving children's lives. This year, the price of the mug was 5 hryvnias, and from their sale they planned to collect 3 million hryvnias for the purchase of equipment for hospitals where children who have affected by war are saved.
With these funds, the organizers planned to purchase a biochemical analyser for Odesa Regional Children's Clinical Hospital, a modern X-ray system and equipment for digital radiograms for Zaporizhzhia City Children's General Hospital No. 5.
However, Ukrainians once again proved that we are a concerned nation. A record number of people showed their willingness to come to the aid of children whose lives and health were in danger. Thanks to hundreds of thousands of caring hearts, it was possible to accumulate UAH 4.15 million on the project account!
These funds will be transferred to the charity partner, Masha Foundation NGO, whose co-founder Masha Yefrosinina has been the ambassador of “Road of Kindness” for the past five years. The Foundation will use them to purchase equipment for hospitals in Odesa and Zaporizhzhia. What is extremely important, thanks to the additional funds raised, another institution – Kharkiv Regional Children's Clinical Hospital – will receive much-needed equipment.
From day one of the war, this medical facility worked under constant shelling, saving hundreds of lives. It was succumbed to missile attacks, but did not stop. The hospital has a large intensive care unit, up to 6,000 complex children's surgeries are performed per year. Children with cancer, new-borns, and children with severe injuries are rescued there. With the additional funds collected as part of the project, the hospital is going to purchase a hearing screening device for new-borns, a critical care analyser, used in emergency situations even outside the hospital; operating room surgical lamps for intensive care units that stopped working due to constant voltage swing, portable dental set and other equipment.
Hennadii Karlinskyi, marketing director of the WOG gas station network:
“With each passing year, the scale of the project “Road of Kindness” grows, finding a greater response in society. We witness that kindness becomes a part of the Ukrainian identity, that in seventeen years a new generation of deeply empathetic people has grown up. This is evidenced, in particular, by this year's project results. We planned to raise funds for expensive equipment for two hospitals. But thanks to the care of our customers, we were able to raise enough funds to help solve a number of urgent needs of another medical institution. We were once again convinced that ordinary purple mugs can work wonders. A big thank you to everyone involved in “Road of Kindness” project.”
Masha Yefrosinina, ambassador and co-founder of “Road of Kindness” project:
“There’s a special mission in supporting the “Road of Kindness” for me, as the project provides an opportunity to solve critical issues related to saving the young Ukrainians’ lives. With the beginning of a full-scale war, it became more significant: medical institutions that received a new category of patients – wounded children – urgently needed specialized equipment for their rescue. And I am so grateful to the Ukrainians who joined the project, for the fact that we are able to help save them. Now we hear more and more often about war fatigue, or those who have already become accustomed to it and have lost their compassion in the end, donating less and less... However, there is a different situation, when in a short period of time we collect an amount that is a third more than planned. This testifies to the spirit of unity and resistance, which does not fade within us.”
During the years of the “Road of Kindness” initiative implementation, millions of Ukrainians have joined it. Thanks to them, we could purchase equipment for more than 30 children's hospitals of various specializations. Which means that thousands of small patients could get the help they needed!
