WOG has paid more than UAH 2 bln of 2023 first quarter taxes and fees
For several years in a row, we have been publicly reporting on taxes and fees paid. The war did nothing to prevent this, we reported both in 2022 and now. Thus, in the first quarter of 2023, the company transferred UAH 2.014 billion to budgets of all levels.
This amount includes income tax, marketed goods and services-based VAT, retail excise duty, personal income tax, military duty, land charge, duty on obligatory state pension insurance. Overall, this is 50.8 per cent more than in the first quarter of 2022. This growth was achieved despite the fact that 29 fuel filling stations, which make up 8% of the network, are no longer operating due to destruction or damage as a result of military operations or ended up in temporarily occupied territories.
The interpretation of the above-mentioned volume of taxes paid means 1.35 UAH of operating taxes paid for each litre of fuel sold in the WOG network.
“Today, every Ukrainian singles out companies according to the “friend-or-foe” principle. The “friend” category includes responsible businesses that do not simply declare their support for the state, but back it up with real actions. To pay taxes dutifully is one of these steps, as it is, first of all, supporting for the defence forces in the struggle for victory”, Mykola Tsyrkun, financial director of the WOG filling station network, pointed out.
WOG specially focuses on charitable projects and support of initiatives aimed at saving the lives of military and civilians.
“Since the outbreak of the full-scale war, WOG has allocated more than UAH 57 million to life-saving initiatives. For Ukrainian business today, such activity is not just a part of corporate social responsibility, but in fact it is an additional voluntary tax paid by companies. For now, one charitable project replaces another, because the state and society need support from big business,” Hennadii Karlinskyi, marketing director of the WOG gas station network noted.
One of these initiatives started in early June 2023 together with UNITED24 and is called “Rescuing Our People, Wherever They Are.” This is a project whose goal is to provide defenders with all-terrain rescue vehicles. The first all-terrain vehicle has already been transferred to the State Emergency Service in Kherson region to save people in the areas flooded as a result of the Kakhovka hydroelectric station explosion. Every Ukrainian can join and become a benefactor together with WOG. To do this, just fill up with Mustang fuel, and we will transfer 1 hryvnia from every litre of such gasoline or diesel to the UNITED24 fund.
The WOG filling station network is going to initiate humanitarian projects and fulfil obligations to society further, dutifully paying all taxes and fees.
