“Road of Kindness”: WOG and Masha Foundation gave equipment to three hospitals that save wounded children
Medical facilities in Kharkiv, Odesa and Zaporizhzhia received help. Children who suffered from Russian aggression are treated and often rescued there. The necessary funds for the purchase of equipment were collected thanks to caring Ukrainians under the “Road of Kindness” project in just two months.
The organizer of the project is the WOG gas station chain, the co-organizer is Masha Foundation NGO, the ambassador is Masha Yefrosinina.
As part of the project, guests of the WOG gas station bought their favourite hot drinks in cute purple cups with a unicorn. This year, the price of such a mug was 5 hryvnias. All funds were directed to the purchase of equipment for hospitals where children affected by war are rescued.
As part of the Road of Kindness project, we purchased and donated a biochemical analyser from Odesa Regional Children's Clinical Hospital, a modern X-ray system and equipment for DR image to the City Children's Hospital No. 5 in Zaporizhzhia. But the opportunity to help Kharkiv Regional Children's Clinical Hospital appeared unexpectedly. Instead of the expected 3 million UAH, which was announced as the goal of this year’s project, caring Ukrainians collected 4.15 million UAH. This made it possible to support another medical institution.
“As a result of enemy shelling and bombing of civilian infrastructure, hundreds of young Ukrainians were injured and wounded. Hospitals where these children are rescued need equipment for the specialists to quickly and adequately provide assistance to the small patients. I am extremely grateful to everyone who was not indifferent in their commitment to give a chance at survival to children who suffered from the aggressor’s actions. Thanks to our joint efforts, someone's little life will be saved, and many other patients will receive better diagnostics and the necessary medical care”, Hennadii Karlinskyi, marketing director of the WOG gas station network, summarizes.
Kharkiv Hospital was not chosen by chance. This is a multidisciplinary specialized children's institution, which treats many children from 0 to 18 years old, and performs up to 6,000 major surgeries per year, including children with mine-blast traumas. With the additional funds received, the medical institution purchased a new-born hearing screening device, a critical condition monitoring used in emergency situations, a stationary operating lamp and a portable dental unit.
“We’ve been provided with four very important devices. A new-born hearing screener helps save a baby's hearing. The LED surgical light has already been tested during operation, and the surgeons are satisfied with them. But the most important thing is a blood gas and electrolyte analyser for intensive care units. When a child is admitted in an emergency, we determine how therapy needs to be adjusted. This device is already helping our resuscitators in their work. A portable dental unit makes it possible to treat children’s teeth under general anaesthesia... There are quite a lot of such children, they could not get help before. On behalf of the hospital management and all the staff, I would like to thank the organizers and participants of the “Road of Kindness” project for this much-needed help!” Oleksii Savvo, Deputy Director of the Kharkiv Regional Children's Clinical Hospital, emphasized.
“These three cities, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, and Odesa, are heavily shelled, and their young residents are constantly at risk, so we chose hospitals there. In fact, these institutions needed to upgrade their equipment even before the war, but the state's capabilities are currently severely limited. Therefore, thanks to the concern of Ukrainians, we managed to improve the technical support of these hospitals”, Masha Yefrosinina, co-organizer and ambassador of “Road of Kindness” project, emphasized.
We would like to remind you that the “Road of Kindness” is one of the many socially important projects implemented by WOG. It has been implemented for seventeen years in a row. Since 2022, the company has focused on helping medical institutions that save children affected by war. The project also aims to develop a culture of charity and unite society to save children's lives.
